Commentary: Nation's Debt Ceiling Limit Increase
The Nation's Leader Obama, will present a news conference Friday July 15th, to deal with the status of discussions to improve the country's debt ceiling.
It will be the president's second news conference on the subject which has consumed official Washington and be among the greatest preoccupations of Obama's presidency. The debt ceiling is assigned at $14.3 trillion and also the administration states that if it's not elevated by August. 2 the federal government would default on its obligations.
Not only will the US default on its obligations, it will also have a large impact on the financial decisions we make. It will be hard to get a loan, buy a house with increased interest rates. It will also increase the amount we all pay for products and services.
The President is asking for a small increase on taxes for the people making more than $200,000 a year. The GOP rejects this option, citing it will "kill jobs". What jobs? If we don't have enough jobs now, we are not going to have jobs with an increase in taxes. What is happening right now is not helping. We need to take different steps and make a new plan. Tax increases are inevitable. Everything is going to cost more in the future. As populations increase all over the world, demand for food and energy will skyrocket. It is just the way the world is becoming. If we make small tax increases now, it will save us all money in the long run.
The more money a person or business makes, they should pay more in tax percentages than those making much less or some making nothing at all with unemployment rates so high for so long. Tax brackets are the most fair way in getting much needed revenue into the system. The GOP, is watching out for the rich, stalling on the deal, and embarrassing the country. The whole world is watching and waiting to see how all this unfolds. By not raising taxes at this time is going to have very bad effects, later on. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have no problems in paying more taxes. They are the most generous in charities. Why? "What goes around, comes around." They are well off, because the give a lot back to the world. It is that simple.
This tax increase is so small. There are companies making huge profits due to the recent layoffs. Google just announced 9 billion dollar profit in the second quarter. Now that says a lot.
We are America. We need to do what is right. We need to do this debt ceiling deal today.

Warning: Mitt Romney Requests Tax Extension!
Today I was watch the CBS evening news, April 13th, 2012, and I heard that Mitt Romney requested a 6 month extension to file his tax returns. That is not the example, characteristics and the leadership we need for this country. He has all the resources to get his taxes done on time. He has staff, money, and family. He should be able to afford a tax service. To me this is outrages and should be taken as a serious warning that he may not be suited for a highly responsible position in our government. He is running for president of the United States. Does this mean we are going to see a lot of extension requests on projects, bills, and emergency funding if he is elected president of the United States of America? Will we ever see anything get accomplished if is elected president? Mitt Romney needs to get his taxes done on time. If the Obama family has the time to get their taxes done on time, then it should the same for the Romney family. Obama has 2 jobs right now, as president and campaigner. I guess the Romney's need time to make their taxes "look pretty" for the American people. Citizens really should take a hard look at Romney and be sure he is the right choice to take this country to the next level.- Details

Dear Honorable Speaker of the House, John Boehner:
I watch the news everyday and I hear about how you will not raise taxes on the top 2% (the rich), because it will slow job growth and hurt small business. The 2% have had these tax breaks for almost a decade and job growth is still not happening at a fast rate. Every year close to Christmas, since Obama has become president the feud never stops between you. If the wealthiest Americans are not creating jobs with the tax breaks that they already have, then they are not going to create jobs if their tax breaks continue. Every Christmas is spoiled with bad news of spending cuts for the poor and tax breaks for the rich.
The tax hikes for the top 2% of the population is so small. They can afford and most millionaires agree with President Obama.
Remember when the Supreme Court ruled to keep Obama's health care law legal? That decision was based on what the voters wanted. Chief Justice Roberts, said the health care law should remain, because it was the decision of the voters to elect Obama based on his views. When voters elect a leader, they expect promises by the candidates to be enacted. The decision to raise taxes on the 2% is what the voters wanted by re-electing Obama. Obama won the election based on his promise to keep tax breaks active for the 98% of the population and raise tax rates for the wealthiest 2% of Americans.
With all due respects, John, you are not granting Americans their wish by not agreeing to raise taxes on the wealthiest 2%. Obama has been more than reasonable over the past 4 years to keep those tax cuts for everyone. But it is not working. It is is time to get this deal done, stop delaying the Fiscal Cliff, and give the people what they voted for in November. Don't be The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
Sincerely,
Robin Casey
