A reporter asked White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in Tuesday’s briefing how President Donald Trump's administration was planning to commemorate Black History Month, given his ongoing comments and actions against initiatives that focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. “As far as I know, this White House certainly still intends to celebrate — and we will continue to celebrate American history and the contributions that all Americans, regardless of race, religion or creed, have made to our great country,” she said. “And America is back.” Black History Month begins Feb. 1.
