A musician watched his home burn down from his doorbell camera on January 7 during the devastating wildfires that hit the Los Angeles area. Over 40,000 acres of California burned in severe wildfires since January 7, with over 12,300 structures destroyed, including many homes. The Ring doorbell owned by musician Justin Payne captured the horror of his home burning down during the early stages of the wildfires on Tuesday. Payne told Storyful that he was away at his friend’s house when he got the alert about fires breaking out across LA. “I wasn’t able to get back to my home and grab everything I needed, but I was able to evacuate prior to everything happening, as there was an evacuation warning prior to the devastation,” Payne said. “No one was really aware of the severity until it happened. All I could do was watch from my Ring camera the destruction of my home. “I am currently in a hotel. I have been helping as many families as I can over the past week with shelter, food, water, and clothes. I have been at many givebacks across Pasadena, Glendale, and Hollywood.“
