President Trump also suggests the blame for the tragedy is diversity initiatives at the Federal Aviation Administration promoted by Democratic administrations that led to lower standards when hiring air traffic controllers. Three of the President's cabinet nominees have Senate confirmation hearings. Tulsi Gabbard, up for Director of National Intelligence, is asked about her past comments praising NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and her meeting with former Syrian leader Bashaar al-Assad. FBI Director nominee Kash Patel gets questions about whether he would seek to prosecute President Trump's political enemies and whether the president was right to pardon January 6th defendants convicted of assaulting police officers.
