The Supreme Court upholds the federal law that bans the video app TikTok due to national security concerns starting Sunday unless its China-based parent company sells it to an American company. Senate Homeland Security Committee holds a confirmation hearing with Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD), President-elect Trump's nominee for Homeland Security Secretary. Topics included border security and homegrown terrorism. Enough Senate Democrats join Republicans to advance the Laken Riley Act, which would detain undocumented immigrants accused of theft charges. Final vote on the bill is expected next week. President Joe Biden says he believes the Equal Rights Amendment, which guarantee equal protection of the law regardless of sex, is now the part of the U.S. Constitution. But the National Archivist says the legal process disputes surrounding the amendment have not changed and she is not certifying its ratification. Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH) announces he is appointing Lt. Gov. Jon Husted (R-OH) to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the resignation of Sen.
