WHO Director-General Dr Tedros travelled to Chad between 16 and 18 September 2024. On his trip he met with families, many of whom were exhausted and desperate, having walked for days to cross the border from Sudan in search of safety and food to survive. 'We are hungry' - the awful answer I heard repeatedly from Sudanese mothers I met earlier this week in Adré, Chad, when I asked them what they needed most." says Dr Tedros. "Some of them told me their homes were burned, their crops destroyed, their animals stolen. They left, and arrived, with nothing. Their journey speaks of unimaginable resilience, and their voices are an urgent plea for help." Learn more about WHO's work in emergencies here: https://www.who.int/emergencies/overview
