Its the second time in a year the music platform is hiking prices
Last summer, music streamer Spotify raised the prices of its premium subscription for the first time in over a decade.
Now, a year later, Spotify is raising prices again.
Premium subscribers will see a $1 price hike from $10.99 per month to $11.99 per month in the next month.
As we continue to grow our platform, we are updating our Premium prices so that we can keep innovating in changing market conditions, the company said in an article on its site. These updates will help us continue delivering value to fans.
Prices are going up
Prices on every Spotify Premium plan are expected to go up in the next month. The changes are as follows:
-
Spotify Premium: $11.99/month (previously $10.99/month)
-
Premium Family Plan: $16.99/month (previously $13.99/month)
-
Spotifys Premium Duo Plan: $14.99/month (previously $12.99/month)
Spotifys student plan, which is currently at $5.99 per month with ads, is remaining at its current price point.
One more month until new prices
In its announcement, Spotify said that it's giving subscribers a one-month grace period before the price hike goes into effect. Users will receive an email from the company announcing the start of their final month of current prices.
The company also said that consumers who dont want to pay more for a Premium subscription can still subscribe to the free version of Spotify; however, the catch there is that there are ads.
To continue listening to ad-free music, and getting access to audio books, subscribers are going to have to pay a bit more each month.
